Solihull Infant Feeding Team

Solihull Infant Feeding Team is a small team of four Breastfeeding Peer Supporters and two International Board Certified Lactation Consultants who provide information and support around feeding your baby – before and after birth – however you feed your baby. We are an NHS service, commissioned by Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council, working within Solihull Health Visiting Service – South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust.

Meet the team

We know from research that the health benefits of breastfeeding are substantial, lasting well beyond the period of breastfeeding. Solihull Health Visiting and Infant Feeding Service are accredited by UNICEF Baby Friendly as a Gold Service, ensuring excellence and sustained practice in the support of infant feeding and parent-infant relationships.

We provide:

Online Antenatal Classes

Once a month Zoom antenatal class run by our experienced Peer Supporters, covering; preparing for baby, bonding, feeding, brain development and much more! Read more or book your place on one of our upcoming classes.

Breastfeeding Cafés

We run three cafés a week where you can join our experienced breastfeeding peer supporters – two in-person and one online! More information.

Social Media Support

Our Facebook and Instagram pages are used to regularly share tips and tricks to help on your feeding journey, as well as advertise our upcoming events.

Our private Facebook group “NHS Solihull Breastfeeding Support” for Solihull parents to prove a safe space for local breastfeeding parents to connect and support each other.

Breast Pump Loan

Breast pumps can be provided on loan where babies are under 8 weeks of age and there are breastfeeding challenges.  Speak to your Midwife or Health Visitor for more details.

South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust runs a confidential secure text messaging service for parents of children aged 0-5 years called ChatHealth. The service operates Monday to Friday between 9am and 4pm, excluding bank holidays. All texts will be responded to by a health visitor within 24 hours. Outside of the service working hours, you’ll receive a message back to inform you that your text will be responded to once the service reopens.

Should you require urgent health advice in the meantime, please contact your GP, visit an NHS walk-in centre or call NHS 111. For emergencies, dial 999 or visit A&E.
